CLIC enabling collaborations between public research universities and private technology companies

CLIC is coordinating the Business Finland funded co-innovation project HYGCEL. In this role, CLIC enables activities of the consortium which is exploring the role of Hydrogen and Carbon Value Chains in Green Electrification. The consortium consists of sixteen private companies and three public Finnish universities.

During autumn 2022, CLIC Innovation organized a series of morning coffee sessions, where researchers and companies in the project shared complementary knowledge in Safety & materials in Hydrogen value chains, energy politics, carbon markets and products, bio methanation as well as P2X system and modelling.

The knowledge sharing sessions culminated in the research seminar on 24th of November, 2022 at the campus of Tampere University. On 25th of November at Valmet premise, CLIC organized a matchmaking session with work package leaders of the public research project and private companies in the consortium. The work package leaders discussed the research topics and the possibilities of collaboration between companies. The consortium companies learned about the avenues of collaboration with the research teams to enable their own projects as well.

Participants found the fast-paced “speed dating” event organized by CLIC very useful for intensifying collaboration between private companies and research institutes. After the event companies and researchers contacted each other for future collaboration activities.

In 2023, CLIC will continue to enable the collaboration between companies and research organizations in the consortium with the morning coffee sessions for knowledge sharing.  The third research seminar of HYGCEL was organized on May 24th in Helsinki, and next one is coming up in November.
