Company

CLIC Innovation is a not-for-profit innovation company based in Helsinki, Finland, helping organisations turn sustainability ambitions into concrete, system-level solutions. We bring together companies, research organisations, public actors, and other key stakeholders to develop and scale solutions in the bioeconomy, circular economy, and future energy systems. Our work focuses on challenges that no single organisation can solve alone — from resource scarcity to the transformation of industrial and energy systems.

CLIC Innovation designs, coordinates, and manages R&D&I projects and innovation ecosystems that deliver measurable results. We are known for our ability to structure complex collaborations, build strong consortia, and ensure that projects create real value, supported by strong European networks and extensive experience in EU-level and cross-border projects.

International collaboration is a core part of how we create impact. By working with leading European RDI organisations, companies, and networks, we help shape policy discussions, strengthen access to EU funding, and connect Finnish partners to high-quality international collaboration. This work supports the development of nationally important sustainability themes, builds competencies and capabilities through shared learning, and opens new pathways for innovation, scaling, and long-term competitiveness.

“Real system change happens when the right actors come together across borders around shared goals and clear implementation paths. As an innovation cluster, we bring companies, research organisations, and public actors together to co-create high-quality RDI projects and long-term portfolios. Our role is to make that collaboration work, efficiently, credibly, and with impact.”

How we create impact

We support partners across the full innovation journey — from shaping ideas to delivering lasting impact. Our work centres on several areas:

Collaboration & open innovation
We prepare competitive funding proposals, coordinate large-scale RDI projects, ecosystems, and multi-partner consortia, and lead the communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities that turn results into use.

A future-ready operating environment
We develop market-shaping strategies for the sustainability transition and help partners navigate and influence the evolving EU policy and funding landscape.

Strategic adaptability
Through foresight and our strategic research and innovation agenda (SRIA) work, we help organisations anticipate change, plan for the long term, and align sustainability goals with emerging market opportunities.

From innovation to impact
We measure, analyse, and communicate the results of RDI activities, connecting projects and funding sources into a coherent path towards commercialisation.

Key sustainability areas
Our thematic expertise spans future energy systems, the bioeconomy, and the circular economy.
