A new EU-funded Bioeconomy project started in June

A new three-year long BBI JU EU-project called FRACTION started in the beginning of June. The project aim is to provide a competitive lignocellulosic biorefinery concept based on flexible adaption and to optimize the production process.

Wide feedstock and market demand are fluctuating economics and hence overcoming the lignocellulose separation and purification drawbacks is needed. FRACTION covers the whole value chains for each end-of-life option with industrial involvement and engages relevant stakeholders to ensure strong post-project exploitation. The results will be used to develop new flexible pre-treatment technology for several types of biomasses. In addition, the new technology and developed business model will be providing sustainable supply chains, improved environmental performance and reductions in separation costs. Consortium consists of 12 partners from 8 countries including CLIC Innovation and VTT as Finnish consortium members. In this project CLIC is responsible for communication and dissemination.

Online Kick off-meeting has started the FRACTION EU project

FRACTION EU project funded by BBI JU was kicked off in the middle of June with the online meeting. The 12 consortium partners attended the meeting and presented the work packages and consortium members as well. FRACTION is focusing on novel lignocellulose fractionation process for high purity lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose valorization into added value. The 6,18 M euro project is running until the end of May 2024.

New webpages are open at fraction-project.eu and the social media accounts are in Twitter and in LinkedIn.

All work packages have started during the summer. As CLIC Innovation is responsible of communication and dissemination work package, we are preparing next an Online Communication workshop for Consortium members in coming months.

The idea is also to raise young scientists to promote their research and expand their network with stakeholders. During the project several reports are confidential due to the nature of the research, but related topics and conference presentations will be disseminated during the project.
