REMHub – A new leap towards sustainable raw materials in the EU

CLIC Innovation has submitted a proposal for creating a Rare earth and magnets innovation hub in the EU. The proposal named REMHub was submitted  on February 7, 2024 and the consortium has 25 partners from seven countries. The initiative aims to enhance access to rare earth elements and permanent magnets for the EU’s industrial sectors. Rare earth elements are crucial for green energy transition in the EU and it is dependent on imports. The project focuses on improving supply security in EU by enabling domestic exploration and mapping of rare earth elements,  separation of rare earth elements from side streams as well as recycling and refurbishing of permanent magnets. By establishing an innovation hub, REMHub intends to offer a platform for new processes in the rare earth metal value chain thus enabling sustainable industrial value chains in the EU.
