The third focus area in 4Recycling ecosystem is Plastics and composites in construction industry. The research and development needs are focusing on recycling technologies of multimaterial construction plastics, biocomposites or a product including biobased component. Also, the development of recycling system and infrastructure for these components will be developed.
By year 2030 the activities will include for example projects to enhance efficient methods and equipment for producing bio-based plastics in large quantities for the demands of construction industry and develop new products for recycled fibres in biocomposites and biobased components with proper recycling options. The goal is to have technologies ready for large scale recycling of biocomposites and biobased material.
The activities are framed by the research and development roadmap as well as the market shaping roadmap which set the path to 2035. Joint RDI project are influencing these targets, as an example is FRACTION EU-project. Read more of FRACTION project.
