Research within the MMEA Program paved Vaisala the way to start a three-year project for the United States Department of Energy

During the first two years of the MMEA program Vaisala’s contribution included development of a wind modeling and forecasting system for wind farms, called Rampcast.

Later the Rampcast system moved to product development phase and has now been integrated in the offering of Vaisala’s Energy business segment. Based on the research done in the MMEA Program and successful productization, Vaisala has now been selected by the US Department of Energy (DOE) to coordinate a three-year project to improve wind energy forecasting in complex landscapes and terrain.
